History

Hereford Police Male Choir started way back in 1957. A service was to be held in Hereford Cathedral to mark the centenary of the old Herefordshire Constabulary and a group of serving police officers and 'specials' formed a choir to sing for the occasion.

The enterprise was so successful that the choir continued to meet, rehearse and perform. In 1967 the Herefordshire Force was subsumed into West Mercia Police. More than half a century after its formation the choir continues to have strong links with West Mercia Police, and Chief Constable Anthony Bangham is a very active President.

Today, Hereford Police Male Choir's ranks are open to men from all walks of life. The 70-strong choir rehearses at The Rose Gardens at 7.15pm each Tuesday and new members are always welcome.
