Hereford Police Male Choir started way back in 1957. A service was to be held in Hereford Cathedral to mark the centenary of the old Herefordshire Constabulary and a group of serving police officers and ‘specials’ formed a choir to sing for the occasion.

The enterprise was so successful that the choir continued to meet, rehearse and perform. In 1967 the Herefordshire Force was subsumed into West Mercia Police. More than half a century after its formation the choir continues to have strong links with West Mercia Police, and Chief Constable Anthony Bangham is a very active President.

Over the years, the choir has grown and evolved, opening its membership to men from all backgrounds and professions while maintaining the spirit of friendship and community on which it was founded. Today, the choir is a thriving ensemble of around 70 members, bringing together a wealth of experience, talent and enthusiasm to perform a varied repertoire for audiences across the region and beyond. The 70-strong choir rehearses at The Rose Gardens at 7.15pm each Tuesday and new members are always welcome.
